Rottweiler obedience, training and education
I have now finished my obedience training as such. In past 3 months we have done a lot of training (2 –3 times a week). This means that I'm prepared for exam (not for working dog), and we are now fine tuning it.
We have also started working on biting the sleeve. I like it really a lot! The problem is that I don't like barking, and it takes me a while to do it. I have a great agitator/handler for this – Damir Kerman and we play a lot. The problem is of course that he has to lift me sometimes and I'm a bit heavy!
For fun, I do jumps over barrier and climbing. It is fun but I'm scared to do it sometimes.
Also one great news. My owners are expecting their first baby. They have starting to prepare me for their first child. We are now doing weekly training - me walking on and off leash next to baby carriage.
Rottweiler training - 12.04.2004
I stated the training again - as you all know to rottweiler training is very important. This training is in preparation for A0 exam. I have classes 2 – 3 times a week.
We will he doing heal command – walking on leash (left leg, looking up at handler), turns (left turn, right turn, 180 degrees turn), sit without handler stopping, lay down, come and of course fetch (“aport”).
OLDER NEWS about rottweiler obedience, training and education
First class that I finished was in NeSi school - course for socialization and obedience.
On 17th of February 2004, I was back in school
KOSSP "Zagreb" is the name of the obedience school, and I have enrolled in first course. Socialization and Basic obedience.
Although I have finished already one such course, I need to finish it again, so I can take exam and go to higher level.
Each lesson takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. And I have it two times a week (every Tuesday and Wednesday from 21:00).
The classes have finished on 25. of march, and we have been focused on following:
- walking
- sit (with and without voice command)
- sit & stay (with and without voice command)
- sit & stay with distance increase and distraction
- down (with and without voice command)
- down & stay (with and without voice command)
- down & stay with distance increase and distraction
- down & wait with owner hiding, and dog next to unknown person
- playing
- drop (to release toy)
- stand (from sitting position)
- lifting on table and inspection(simulating vet)
- going through doors (waiting command)
- crossing the road
- come (ranging from 10cm to 10 meters)
- meeting unknown person (shake hand with owner, pet the dog)
As you can see, I have learned a lot - some of this I knew from before, but this gave me the chance to improve.
We also did some, just for fun, couple of things on Agility course:
climbing on the bridge and walking over it
tunnel (but not tube - concrete one)
That was fun!
But this is just the start - since I AM A ROTTWEILER, I have to learn whole my life. Rottweiler obedience and education is important to us all. I will go to all necessary courses and I will always have something new to do.
At age of 6 months I know following:
- sit
- lay down
- stay
- wait
- come
- drop-it
- give a paw
Not bad for a puppy training?!
